Why Blog?

I don't know why people blog. Do people read other people's blog? Do we, the masses, have anything important to say? Do people blog for themselves or for others? Is anyone really interested in my daily musings. I say - probably not. To tell you the truth, my daily musings would probably land in one of three detestable categories: the shallow - does my hair look better up or down?; the insane - How can I kidnap John and make him my very own trubadour?; and the nerdy - Am I punctuating this compound-complex sentence effectively?

I know some people blog to send messages to the people, but it's my experience that the people who need who hear the message won't read the message, so even if I was to spend a lot of time writing about the perils of eating too much fast food, or smoking cigarettes, or driving too-big cars, the people won't read it.

I would guess some bloggers write for their own benefit, like journaling, but it seems like quite a public place to reflect on your deepest darkest secrets.

I don't know why people blog, but this is me trying it out. It was alright for me - how was it for you?
